Gladis Lasprilla – Passion & Poise
Posted on July 18th, 2018
How lucky we are to have known someone to whom it is so hard to say goodbye! Gladis Lasprilla will be leaving our agency this summer and to say we are going to miss her would be a huge understatement. Very passionate about ending DV and SA, Gladis first came to work for Skagit DVSAS in October, 2012 and her passion has shined through in every project she has undertaken.
Besides developing many new partnerships, helping the agency create awareness and educating new audiences, Gladis also worked diligently to educate the immigrant community about their rights with regard to the current administration’s policies. When the change in government occurred, many immigrant survivors faced fear of being deported – or their partners being deported – if they received services. Gladis worked tirelessly with her usual passion to advocate for these members of our community and educate them regarding our agency’s confidentiality measures, put in place to protect them. We are blessed to have worked along side her in the process.
Gladis — with her beautiful megawatt smile that brightens every room she enters — has worked with many Latino women to educate them about DV and help them heal and become empowered through her Spanish Support groups. Clients always left her groups empowered — many of them working for the first time in years and taking time for themselves. She has developed innovative ways to educate and bring awareness to DV and SA in all the programs with which she has been involved and her commitment to bettering the lives of survivors is apparent.
Gladis has been a positive and passionate force in our agency and will be missed, but we will build upon the foundation she has set for the work in the Latino community. Thank you, Gladis, for all your hard work, dedication and passion!
