Thanks to all who attended our Superheroes, Unite! 7th Annual Auction and Gala on November 3, 2018. We had a packed house and record attendance! Through the generosity of our wonderful sponsors and bidders, we raised critical funding for a wide spectrum of services. We were also able to raise awareness about the continued need in our valley.
Pat Grant, our fantastic auctioneer and Lin Tucker, our Board Chair, facilitated the event – with the support of the whole Skagit DVSAS board, staff, and volunteers. The Dessert Dash was loads of fun — our bidders can really sprint, even in full hero costume! The Live & Silent auctions were well attended and supported and we surpassed our goal for our big ask!
Lynda Nelson, our board Vice Chair, shared her very personal story with us, silencing a loud, rambunctious crowd and moving many to tears. Lynda shared why the work we do here is so important to her and why she supports it as she does. We are very grateful to Lynda for making the brave choice to share a very personal experience with nearly 300 people.
We also awarded our first annual “Cape Awards” to some of our biggest heroes over the past few years: Soroptimist International of Burlington and Anacortes, Tina Craig, Lynda Nelson, Erin Long, and all were “caped” at our ceremony. We would like to recognize all of our wonderful supporters, but time is limited. Therefore, we’ll be awarding capes annually, in recognition of the many wonderful partners in the valley supporting us and our work.
Special appreciation goes to our wonderful volunteers who really pulled it all together for us in the end, and our generous Board of Directors for all their hard work in planning. We appreciate and value our community partners!
